What You Need to Check Out Books and Use Reserve Items

To borrow materials from the Pellissippi State Library, all students, faculty, and staff must present a valid form of identification at the Circulation/Service Desk.

  • Pellissippi State ID Card
  • Government-issued photo ID (e.g., driver’s license)
    – Must be accompanied by providing your P-number
  • MyPellissippi Login
    – Log in on your phone and show your name and P-number to library staff

To check out materials, you must have an active library account. If you're registered for classes but unable to borrow items, we can help!

πŸ“² Quick Fix:

  1. Log in to Brightspace on your phone or device
  2. Show the library staff your current or upcoming class schedule
  3. Library staff will:
    • Create a new account, or
    • Update your existing account through the end of the current semester

πŸ“š Borrowing from TBR/UT Libraries

(TALC Program)

Pellissippi State students, faculty, and staff can borrow books from participating Tennessee Board of Regents (TBR) and University of Tennessee (UT) libraries through the Tennessee Academic Library Collaborative (TALC) program.

TALC cards are no longer required. Just bring your ID and proof of enrollment or employment.

  • Currently enrolled Pellissippi State students
  • Currently employed faculty and staff, including adjunct instructors

πŸ“– What Can You Borrow?

  • Circulating materials (books and other items available for checkout)
  • Borrowing is subject to the local policies of the lending library

⚠️ Note: TALC borrowing privileges do not include access to:

  • Computer labs
  • Study rooms
  • Printing or other campus services

To check out materials, you must present:

  • A valid photo ID (e.g., driver’s license or state-issued ID)
  • Proof of current enrollment or employment by:
    • Logging into MyPellissippi on your phone and showing your name and P-number
    • You may also be asked to show your Pellissippi State ID card

  • You must be registered for classes at the time of checkout
  • Some libraries may allow borrowing if you're registered for an upcoming semester
  • Summer borrowing is only available to students enrolled in summer classes

  • Borrowers must follow the rules and policies of the lending library
  • You are responsible for:
    • Returning items on time
    • Paying any late fees, lost item charges, or collection fees
  • Lending libraries may revoke borrowing privileges if policies are not followed

🏠 Community Borrower’s Card

Library Access for Tennessee Residents

Tennessee residents age 18 or older can apply for a Community Borrower’s Card to check out library materials from Pellissippi State.

πŸ“ How to Apply

Visit the Circulation Desk at the Hardin Valley Campus or any extended campus library. Bring:

  • A valid Tennessee driver’s license, or
  • Other proof of identity, age, and Tennessee residency

πŸ“š Borrowing Guidelines

  • Borrow up to 5 items at a time
  • Each item may be renewed up to 5 times
  • Overdue items must be returned before borrowing more
  • Card is valid for 1 year and may be renewed annually
  • Community borrowers must follow all library loan and overdue policies

⚠️ This card provides access to library materials only. It does not include access to computer labs, study rooms, or other college services.

🌍 Out-of-Area Residents

If you live more than 100 miles from a Pellissippi State campus and do not have a local address, you may be asked to verify good standing with your local public library.
