This role offers hands-on experience in customer service, organization, communication, and teamwork—all in a friendly, supportive environment.
Student assistants work in several areas of the library:
The pace of work varies depending on the time of day and semester. Our team fosters a positive, inclusive, and professional environment focused on developing career-readiness skills such as:
Greet and assist students, faculty, staff, and community members at the Circulation Desk
Answer questions, give directions, answer phones, and provide general library support
Process checkouts, returns, renewals, and record transactions accurately
Retrieve and re-shelve materials using Library of Congress call numbers
Shelf-read to ensure items are in correct order
Search for missing or mis-shelved items
Deliver outgoing library mail to the campus mailroom
Pick up incoming mail and return it to the library
Complete occasional on-campus errands (e.g., delivering documents or supplies to other departments)
Handle all deliveries promptly, securely, and professionally
Assist with labeling, laminating, sanitizing surfaces, and other assigned tasks
