1.) Create a test candidate account at *Do not register for an exam here!

2.) Use Register Blast to schedule your exam at any campus Testing Center.

3.) Review the exam objectives and study!

Exam Format

About the MOS Exam

Pass with 700/1000 points to obtain certification. Scores appear immediately after the exam, and a certificate will be emailed to you.

One free retake may be scheduled after 24 hours. Additional retakes may be scheduled after 48 hours.

Exam Format

50 minutes to complete a series of tasks in a Microsoft Office simulation.

Student Certification

Learn. Practice. Certify

Earn a professional credential by passing one of more Microsoft Office product exams. These exams are available free to Pellissippi students, faculty, and staff.

Available at all campus Testing Centers:

Microsoft Certified Educator (MCE)

Microsoft Technology Associate (MTA)

  • Introductory Microsoft certification for individuals considering a career in technology. (MTA exams do not qualify for MCP certification, nor are they a prerequisite for MCSA or MCSD certification.)
  • About MTA Exams

Microsoft Office Specialist (MOS)

  • Demonstrates proficiency in Microsoft Office products, and may be eligible as college credit!

Free College Credit

May be granted for up to 25% of the credit hours required for a degree. Students should complete a Credit for Life Experience Form and contact the Business & Computer Technologies Department at 865-694-6495. Proof of certification(s) must be submitted with the form.

  • MOS EXPERT Certification in Word 2016 = ADMN 1311 (previously 1005)

  • MOS EXPERT Certification in Excel 2016 = ADMN 1313 (previously 2621)

  • MOS Specialist Certification in Word, Excel, and Access = INFS 1010

The certification exam can be taken with or without enrolling in these courses. If enrolled, you will be required to complete all work and the final exam, and will not receive additional credit.
