Common Academic Experience 2017-2018: Join the Committee!

Join the Committee!

What is the Common Academic Experience (CAE)?

CAE is targeted at first-year students with the intention to foster a sense of belonging and community, easing the transition to college life. This is done through a variety of Pellissippi community events and curriculum based on an annual theme.

Big Change:

The Common Book will be replaced by an annual theme reflected through events and student work, culminating in a cultural object at the end of each academic year. This new structure will free-up money for faculty to use in their curricumn and for events and other community-building ideas.

CAE Redesign:

While CAE is an established program at Pellissippi, we are reimagining how this program is run and designed. Faculty and staff who are interested in student success and retention are encouraged to join this new committee, bringing their ideas and enthusiasm to reimagine this impactful program. The redesign of this committee is intended to be run from the bottom up, giving faculty and staff more ownership and making it more accessible for all departments and programs to get involved.

Please join us in this exciting process and help make this program a continued success!

See reverse side for 2017-18 events (*this is an interim year while the committee established the new structure of the program).
