PALS: What is it?

Pellissippi ambassadors for library success

What is PALS?

We're seeking some exceptional students to work with us—not just for us!

Pellissippi Ambassadors for Library Success (PALS) is a new initiative at the library.  Students will be trained to help their peers in the library primarily by staffing the Reference Desk in the Hardin Valley ERC. These students will also help us by bringing fresh ideas to the library, and creating and promoting new services and library events that are student-focused. This isn’t meant to be just a campus job, but also a partnership between students and librarians.

PALS students can work up to 15 hours a week and will earn $12.00/hr, with a raise possible after 6 months. There will be an initial, in-person (paid) training on Saturday, August 28th, 9am-12pm (lunch will be included) in the Hardin Valley ERC. Work will then begin the following week, with shifts depending on your course schedule, and with mandatory bi-monthly training meetings throughout the semester. Right now, the program is limited to the Pellissippi State Library at the Hardin Valley Campus, but we anticipate expanding to other campuses in the future.
