Find a Print Book

PSCC Libraries use Library of Congress Classification (LC) to organize books by subject, using a combination of letters and numbers. The beginning letter(s) of a call number represent the subject area, and the numbers represent a narrower topic in that subject area.

To locate a book, find the section alphabetically (ex. GN: Go to G, then to GN). Then, find look for the book numerically. Please note that the numbers before the decimal point are read as a whole number, not individually (ex. 235.76 is two hundred and thirty-five point seven six: Go to 235, then to .76, which is after .75 and before .77).

LC Subject Headings & Icons

These icons were created by students in the Pellissippi Interior Design Technology Program to help library users associate LC Subject Headings with information in a memorable way. These icons can be found on the ends of each library shelving unit, allowing for quick discovery of library materials.
